Week 9: Digital Surrealism

• Realism vs Surrealism 

Realism:

- Takes subject matters of the ordinary and common world which we call "reality"

- Almost always takes a non-exotic and non-extraordinary subject matter and theme 

Surrealism:

-A twist on realism

-Explores the subconscious mind, with subject matters concentrating on dream-images and often aims to distort the ordinary

-Defies logic 

-Dreams and the workings of the subconscious mind inspire surrealistic art ("French for "super-realism") filled with strange images and bizarre juxtapositions 

• Dadaism

An anti-war art movement with artworks that is satirical and nonsensical in nature 

• Salvador Dali 

-Was a Spanish Surrealist painter and printmaker known for exploring subconscious imagery 

• Digital Surrealism

-Surrealism is a cultural movement focused on type of arts to express about the artist's idea themselves 

-In this digital era surrealism is one of the top digital art styles

• How to start creating surrealism artworks?

-Dream like scenes and symbolic images

-Unexpected, illogical, juxtapositions

-Capturing your dream

1.Sketch it out

Draw your vision out roughly. Don't finesse any details yet, but just lay out key points of your vision

2.Find Reference Images

Gathering reference images will help you greatly in realizing new idea. Gather images that ditrectkly relate to what you have in mind.

3.Mindset during Creation

"Does it look real?" :Surrealism is at its best when it's convincing enough that it could be real, however we obviously know that the subject matter you are creating is nonexistent, thus is not real

Make it happen to the best of your ability: You will learn the skills you may need for next time to make it work. The worst thing you can do is be afraid and back off from your idea

Week 10:Intro to After Effect

• What is after efffects?

-Adobe after effect is a 2.5D animation software used for animation, visual efcets, and motion  picture compositing

-After effect is used in film, TV, and web video creation

-Used in the post-production phase, and has hundreds of effects that can be used to manipulate imagery

-Allows you to combine layers of video and images into the same scene

-Motion graphics animation works by manipulating vector and rasterized art to create and tell a story 

• Compositing layers in photoshop

-All the layers need to be arrange and rename accordingly so that it will be organize and easy to be animated in after effects 

-

-We can import elements such as images, video, vector, and more into Adobe effects

-After effects files does not embed its media, it links to it

2.TUTORIAL

We must design a poster using our own photography and also we must make our own typpgraphy for this project.This project is a combination between IVN and DPI

3.PRACTICAL

Part 1:Week 7

• Moodboard

The theme of my poster is about rock and metal rythm, therefore i searched some referents that suits the theme.First, i chose the black, white, and red poster because i like the elements and composition of the poster.Besides that, the color represent rock.Second, i chose the stage with the gold and red color.I got an inspiration from that picture to make a stage with red and gold color.For the third and fourth, that are the inspiration for my own photo.

RHYTM IS THE SOUL OF LIFE

• Summary of my design concept

The quotes that i used is actually about rock rhythm.Because my quotes of the day is suitable with black and red color (represent rock color), so i will make a design with black, white, and also red.Besides that, i also added gold color because gold represent metal color and also represent the color of cymbal ( part of drum).I made a stage and also added some lighting to show that it is a concert and rhythm have the important role in a concert.For the typography, i added some metal elements for the font and also used some tools in illustrator (such as 3d) to create the depth.I also added guitar, radio, and also sound system that i made by myself to make it more real.

2. I crop the image using pen tool in adobe photoshop then i added some filter and adjust the brightness

               

3.I used adobe illustrator to create the typography using the metal font.I downloaded the font using google font(sans serif) and then i used pencil tool to draw a shape so that it looks like metal.

          

4. I added some elements by drawing it with pen tool in adobe illustrator 

5.I added 3d elements for tthe typography, and combine all of the elements.My final poster is almost done.However, i still need to add some elements and also change the font color 

5.I decided to crop my own image again because it doesn't look neat using adobe photoshop(pen tool) and i used is as a decoration for the stage.Moreover, i also added black and white color

FINAL POSTER

Title:Rhytm is the soul of life

Summary:I made a concert which the drummer is the center because this poster actually wants to highlight that rock and metal rhythm is important in a group concert.The drummer is the one who control the tempo.For the stage, i made it with black, red, and gold to represent that this is a rock and metal concert.I added some elements like guitar, sound, radio to make it more real that that is a concert.I used metal font for the rhythm because and highlight it the most because it have an important role in a band.
