WEEK 2-INTRODUCTION TO COMPOSITION

• Focal point 

It helps your viewers' eyes naturally settle on the important pieces of your design first 

• Scale & hierarchy

Scale is often used to help communicate hierarchy by drawing attention toward and away from certain elements 

• Balance the elements

You must think of each element as having a weight to it.Smaller objects might weight less than larger objects and heavily textured elements might weight more than flatly color elements.

• White space 

"Empty space" to balance up the main focus of a composition 

• Rule of thirds

-is a process of dividing an image into thirds, using two horizontal and two vertical lines 

-when you position the most important elements of your image at these intersection points, you produce a much more natural image.

• Golden Ratio

-It fosters organic and natural looking composition that are aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

-Creating and appreciating a sense of beauty through harmony and proportion

-Useful guideline for determining dimensions of the layout  

• Framing & cropping 

The position of your subjects within the borders

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Choose and identify your collage's design elements to be cut out and compose it into your own concept & story.

2. Pre compositing your collage's design elements into a composition.

3. Take 3 photo of your collage pre-composition  and insert it on the section below. Please use    CAMSCANNER apps to take pictures of your collages.

3.PRACTICAL-PHYSICAL COLLAGE DESIGN ELEMENTS

1. PRE-COMPOSITION #1

I wanted to create a simple design that is not full of elements.I added a lot of brown color in my design and also white.I used a white space to balance up the main focus.This design is about playing with new style.

2. PRE-COMPOSITION #2

For the second composition, i also created a design that is not full with elements.Due to the theme,

"Playfull" i added some colorful colors to the design so that it can describe the theme well.

3. PRE-COMPOSITION #3

For this composition, i created a composition with a lot of elements.I also used some colors for this

design.The broken house described the old city and the highlight is the people that has that kind of new

style.

FINAL COMPOSITION

Mr.Fauzi chose my second composition and he helped me to re-arranged the composition so that people

can look at the composition sequential from the bottom to the top.
