Recap task 3 brief
For task 3, we will create a work of design based on the sketch idea on task 2 (we can choose one from it) and we are expected to apply our design principles knowledge into our idea and final design. We can use any medium/materials. We must develop our sketch into colour exploration, composition, typeface, positioning, etc. The artwork should be in A4 size, JPEG format in at least 300 dpi pixel size. Moreover, we should also write a 200-word rationale explaining the work.

I selected this design because Mr.Vinod said that this is decent and interesting. Moreover, i also love the design and i think this design can convey the right message to the viewers.
Description
This design emphasize the man who hold the spades in the right side because the size is bigger than the other illustrations. Therefore, it will be the main focus. The plants on the soil create repetition by repeating the same elements to create harvest. The sea on the middle create movement and principle of continuation because the water seems moving and our eyes follow the movement of the waves. Emphasis also given for the text” YOUR OWN” as it is the main message from this poster. Moreover, word and image also used to describe and highlight the message.
Rationale
I want to create a poster that highlight the man who is holding the spade by making it bigger than the other because the main message to convey is “use spades”. We must use the spades dig the soil and planting plants to produce our own food. At the back, i made an illustration that we musn’t use ships because it were sunk. Therefore, producing YOUR OWN food is the only way to survive.

Task 3 Progress
I decided to use Adobe illustrator for this task.
First, i started to create the person, the spades, and the words inside the spade. I made the illustration bigger than the others to create contrast

I created other elements and starting to arrange the position.I decided to use dark colors because dark colors mean prowerfull. I want this poster has a powerful message and powerful design, so that the viewers can understand immediately. I also made the sea look like it's moving to create movement and principle of continuation

I addeed the text and added cloud effects from internet to highlight the text more .I put the spade in the middle because i want it pointing the text above, so that the viewers will focus on the text.

After receiving feedback from Mr.Vinod, i made the clothes look like a farmer.

After that, i clicked "drop shadow" on adobe illutsrator so that i can create the depth like paper cutouts (like the "South Park" cartoon that Mr.Vinod mentioned).Moreover, i also used blob brush tool then make it blur to create some details and make it more alive.

I also made some change for the fonts and use red lines on the side to highlight the message "YOUR OWN"

Here is my final progress (2) before the last consultation with Mr.Vinod

After the last consultation with Mr.Vinod, he said that i can add different types of paper textures for the overlay. The alignment of the spades is not align to the line and it’s very offset to the left. The wording doesn’t really fit well within the spades. The typography is a little bit too playful on the top and doesn’t seem to be expressing “YOUR OWN”.
Therefore, i came out with an improved design based on his feedback. I added different types of paper textures for the overlay, move the alignment of the spades to the center and also change the word on the spades to the center because Mr.Vinod said that it doesn't really fit weel within the spades and he ever said that the wording maybe can fit well on the center.

The decisions made in your design:
I decided to try a new kind of design style to improve the poster by making it kind of like cartoon poster design with paper cutouts style to create the depth and shadow. I want this poster has a powerful message and powerful design, so that the viewers can understand immediately.I want to create a poster that highlight the man who is holding the spade by making it bigger than the other because the main message to convey is “use spades”. We must use the spades dig the soil and planting plants to produce our own food. At the back, i made an illustration that we musn’t use ships because it were sunk. These decisions improved the poster because i emphasized the spades more than the first illustration and also i made an illustration where the ships sunk, so everyone can understand the reasons about why we should not use ships for producing food.
The meaning/purpose of the design:
The aim of the poster was to encourage British soldiers so that they can cultivate the land that surrounded their quarters and also make the country as self-sufficient as possible due to there were a great loss of life because merchant ships were sunk

General Feedback:First consultation with Mr.Vinod for task 3
Specific Feedback:Maybe you should use paper cut outs like “South Park” cartoon because you will get little shadows and create little depth and when you cannot find the color, you can use white paper cut outs then color it, by multiplying the colors.The letters don’t have to be perfect, instead of typing it, you can cut of the letters.For the spade, you can made it a little bit more bigger, so it takes up a little bit more space, but longish.Look the details for the clothing (what does a farmer wear)

General Feedback:Final consultation for task 3 and also all task for design principle (final online class)
Specific Feedback:You can add different types of paper textures for the
overlay.It’s better than before.The alignment of the spades is not align to the
line and it’s very offset to the left. The wording doesn’t really fit well
within the spades. The typography is a little bit too playful on the top and
doesn’t seem to be expressing “YOUR OWN”. Make sure you divided your rationale
based on the MIB.
4.REFLECTION
Experience
After learning to create an improved design, i got a lot of new knowledge and experience.I learnt a lot of new tools on adobe illustrator and also photoshop to create the design.Moreover, i learnt that the depth and shadow are really important in creating a good design.I also learnt to decide which color pallets are the best and suitable for my design, because colors are important and each colors has it own meaning.
Observations
After some obeservation during design principle class, now i know that when we want to make a good design, we must consider a lot of aspects.Design principles are very important.Also, choosing the right font and color pallets for our design is very impprtant because it must suitable with the style of design that we want to create, so that the design can be eye-catching.
Findings
For me, learning design principles is very interesting because now i can create an artwork using the principles of design and doing some research about colors, font, etc.I also learnt that texture can enhance our design because it makes our design became more real.
